Job summary

HII, headquartered in Chatsworth, California, is seeking a Saw Operator to safely set up and operate industrial saws to cut metal materials per job travelers and engineering drawings. The role supports manufacturing and assembly operations with a focus on accuracy and safety.

You will review orders, measure dimensions, load materials with forklifts or hoists, inspect finished pieces, and report issues. A high school diploma and 1–3 years of saw experience are required, with forklift or crane

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of experience operating industrial saws or related manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, job travelers, and basic blueprints.
• Understanding of shop safety practices and safe material-handling procedures.
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor industrial saws to cut metal materials per job requirements.
• Review work orders, cut lists, and drawings to determine material type, dimensions, and quantities.
• Measure and verify material dimensions using measuring devices to ensure accuracy.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished pieces using forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, or hoists.
• Inspect cut materials for accuracy and report nonconforming material.
• Label and stage cut materials to ensure traceability.
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance such as blade changes and lubrication.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE as required.
• Communicate production status and issues to supervisors and team members.
