Job summary

Klauer Manufacturing seeks a Machine Setup technician to prepare and operate metal fabricating equipment such as roll formers, brake presses, and shears. You will read blueprints and specs to configure setups and ensure parts meet tolerances.

Responsibilities include selecting dies, adjusting controls, starting machines, inspecting parts, and troubleshooting jams. You will manage material flow and inventory while documenting production data.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints and specifications.
• Ability to set up roll forming equipment, brake presses, and shears.
• Able to read tolerances and use measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust metal fabricating machines to meet production requirements (roll forming, brake presses, shears).
• Read blueprints, engineering specs, and shop orders to determine setup.
• Select, position, and secure dies, rollers, blades, cutters, and fixtures using measuring tools and templates.
• Position clamps and guides to ensure accurate material flow and product dimensions.
• Adjust machine controls to regulate speed, dimensions, bend angles and forming pressures.
• Start machines and monitor operation, making adjustments as needed for quality and efficiency.
• Inspect parts with rulers and gauges to verify conformance with specs.
• Clear jams and troubleshoot minor malfunctions during operation.
• Report repair needs and dismantle setups after production runs.
• Load/unload material coils onto/off payoffs and feed tables as needed.
• Requisition materials to ensure continuous production supply.
• Monitor inventory levels and enter production data into the database.
