Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Laboratory Technician to convert field samples into reliable numbers under an AASHTO R18 quality system. You will operate calibrated equipment, log results, and maintain chain of custody for every sample leaving the lab.

Responsibilities include ASTM D698, D1557, D2216, D4318, C136 and C39 testing, breaking cylinders, and supporting proficiency programs. Pay is $25–$35 per hour, with mostly daytime hours and overtime during peak testing seasons.

• Mechanical aptitude and steady precision for routine tests.
• Willingness to learn and perform methods accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform ASTM D698, D1557, D2216, D4318, C136, and C39 testing.
• Maintain calibration, standardization, and quality records.
• Log samples and preserve chain of custody.
• Break cylinders and report strength results same day.
• Support proficiency sample programs and accreditation assessments.
