Flow Control Group is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for its Griffin, GA area shop. You will operate conventional machine tools including manual lathes, vertical mills, VTLs, and horizontal milling machines, read drawings, and verify parts with micrometers and other inspection tools.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating manual machine tools in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to read and accurately use a micrometer.
• Ability to measure components and verify dimensions against tolerances.
• Knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, materials, and feeds and speeds.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, vertical milling machines, vertical turret lathes (VTLs), and horizontal milling machines.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, dimensions, and machining specifications.
• Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools.
• Demonstrate the ability to read and accurately use inside and outside micrometers.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining methods for various materials and machining operations.
• Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, milling, and other conventional machining operations as required.
• Verify that finished components meet dimensional requirements, tolerances, and quality standards.
• Perform machine setups, tool changes, adjustments, and routine maintenance as needed.
• Identify machining issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and work instructions.
