Yates Industries, Inc. is seeking a Manual Lathe Machinist to set up and operate manual lathes to produce precision components for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.

You will read blueprints, calculate tolerances, perform in-process inspections, and help maintain machinery and tooling in a safe, efficient shop. Ideal candidates will have a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work accurately to specifications, and a commitment to producing high-quality parts while following safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1–5 years in a job-shop environment.
• Ability to read blueprints and measure with precision tools.
• Experience with manual lathes, lathes, milling machines, and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes to machine cylinder components according to blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
• Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters using mathematics and precision measuring instruments.
• Machine parts to exact specifications using lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
• Measure, examine, and test completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools.
• Perform in-process inspections during machining to verify accuracy and maintain quality.
• Complete preventive maintenance on machines, including lubrication and oil levels.
• Inspect tooling regularly for wear and report issues to maintain safety and efficiency.
