Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in Toledo, OR is seeking a safety‑minded Machinist. The role starts at $40.47 per hour, with an increase to $41.02/hour after a 120‑day probation following completion of multi‑craft training or demonstrated multi‑craft skills. Day shift now, with potential 12‑hour rotations in the future.

You will set up and operate lathes, mills and drill presses to manufacture parts, work with maintenance teams, and uphold safety policies across the plant.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of experience in vertical mills and lathes.
• Experience setting up jobs independently.
• Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum.
• Knowledge of tool holders, insert types, lathe threading, turning and boring.
• Experience with geometric tolerances, inspection gauges, and layout procedures.
• Experience operating hoisting and lifting devices.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate machining tools to perform precision operations (lathe, milling, drill press).
• Machine and fabricate parts such as shafts, bushings, gears, hubs, and bearings.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using math and metrology tools.
• Conduct maintenance on equipment per schedule.
• Collaborate with maintenance team on projects and work orders.
• Adhere to safety policies to ensure a safe plant environment.
