Qualifications

• Expertise with engine lathes, milling machines, grinders and jig borers and ability to interpret drawings and layouts.
• Extensive on-the-job training and experience in machine shop practices.
• Familiarity with tool dressing, coolants, and cutting oils.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute machining operations and select feeds, speeds and tooling for close tolerances.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, grinders, and jig borers.
• Perform multi-step machining with precise setups.
• Install cutting tools and adjust guides, stops, tables, and controls.
• Determine feeds, speeds, tooling, and sequence from drawings.
• Measure parts with precision instruments and adjust to tight tolerances.
• Select coolants and perform tool dressing as needed.
• Fabricate, repair, and finish metal parts, gauges, dies, and fixtures.
