Job summary

Acushnet Company in New Bedford, MA, is hiring a Machinist 1st Class for third shift. The role involves fabricating and machining parts with Bridgeports, grinders, and milling machines, inspecting molds and components, and verifying blueprints.

You will maintain records in a CMMS and support manufacturing excellence with precision workmanship. Qualified candidates have at least 3 years in a machine shop, own their tools, and demonstrate strong measuring and problem-solving skills, plus teamwork

Qualifications

• Vocational school graduate in Machine Shop or Machine and Tool Technology, or equivalent technical education.
• Minimum of 3 years of machine shop experience required.
• Must provide and maintain personal trade-related tools needed to perform job duties.
• Experience fabricating parts using lathes and milling machines.
• Proficient in precision measuring instruments, including calipers, verniers, and micrometers.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with a thorough understanding of production equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and/or electrical systems and schematics preferred.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and machine parts using Bridgeports, grinders, and milling machines.
• Inspect and measure molds, assemblies, and cavities prior to production qualification.
• Verify specifications against blueprints for new equipment installations.
• Test completed assemblies, make adjustments, and document modifications.
• Maintain accurate work records, including work orders, preventive maintenance, materials, and parts within a computerized maintenance management system.
