Acushnet Company is seeking a Machinist 1st Class in New Bedford, MA to fabricate and machine parts with Bridgeports, grinders, and milling machines. You will inspect molds and assemblies, verify blueprints, and document modifications while maintaining accurate records and work orders.

You will test assemblies, adjust as needed, and contribute to high-quality production. A vocational machine shop background and 3+ years of experience are required, with tools provided and maintained by you.

Qualifications

• Vocational school or equivalent in Machine Shop/Tool Technology.
• Minimum of 3 years of machine shop experience.
• Must provide and maintain personal trade-related tools.
• Experience fabricating using lathes and milling machines.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments (calipers, verniers, micrometers).
• Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of production equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and/or electrical schematics preferred.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and machine parts using lathes and milling machines.
• Inspect and measure molds, assemblies, and cavities to ensure qualification.
• Verify specs against blueprints for new equipment installations.
• Test completed assemblies and adjust as needed, documenting changes and maintaining records.
