Job summary

R&E Automated Systems in Michigan seeks a skilled Machine Tool Builder to read prints and assemble custom machinery, building precise tooling and fixtures.

You'll use manual mills, lathes, and grinders, check dimensions with micrometers and dial indicators, and travel to Detroit and Port Huron facilities to support builds and run-offs.

This role demands lifting up to 50 lbs, rigorous attention to tolerances, and collaboration with engineering and production teams to ensure on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in machine building or tooling assembly.
• Practical welding fixtures or workholding tooling experience.
• Ability to read prints, assembly drawings, and pneumatic diagrams.
• Hands-on with manual toolroom machines (mills, lathes, grinders).
• GD&T and precision measurement tools knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Read prints and schematics to assemble custom machinery.
• Assemble, align, and debug tooling and production equipment.
• Build welding fixtures and workholding fixtures.
• Use mills, lathes, grinders to modify parts and verify fit.
• Travel semi-frequently to Detroit and Port Huron facilities.
