Job summary

Astec, Inc. is seeking a Machine Operator to set up, operate, monitor, and maintain production equipment on a fast-paced shop floor. The role requires reading blueprints, verifying parts to specs, and applying preventive maintenance per guidelines.

You will work with team members to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency while logging daily activities and following all safety rules on site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Trade school or college coursework in relevant field is desirable.
• Blueprint reading and tape measure skills are required.
• 1–2 heavy equipment manufacturing experience is desired.
• Computer experience and basic software skills are preferred.
• Good written and oral communication skills are expected.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and learn machine operation.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate production machines following guidelines.
• Control and adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately.
• Perform pre-operation activities for proper startup and operation.
• Inspect parts to specifications and adjust as needed for quality.
• Maintain a detailed daily activity log and communicate safety concerns.
• Monitor machine, respond quickly to breakdowns, and ensure safe operation.
