Job summary

University Hospitals Urgent Care is seeking a Laboratory Technologist (MLT) to perform a broad range of high‑complexity tests, including RT‑qPCR, with minimal supervision. You will receive, accession, and process specimens and ensure timely, compliant reporting of results using EMR systems.

The role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and ability to work 12‑hour shifts including weekends/holidays. Join a team focused on precision care and continuous professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant science
• Associate degree acceptable with required coursework
• 60 sem hrs incl. 24 science/MLT hours
• 3 months documented lab training in each tested specialty
• Advanced degrees (Master’s/PhD) not considered
• RT-qPCR experience preferred
• Attention to detail and critical thinking
• Effective communicator and team player
• Capable of 12‑hour shifts, weekends and holidays
• Lift up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

• Perform broad range of lab testing including RT-qPCR and high-complexity testing
• Receive, accession, and process specimens; resolve collection/processing issues
• Document QC procedures and corrective actions per lab protocols
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab instruments and equipment
• Verify and report results timely using EMR and instrument software
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, COLA, and HIPAA regulations
