Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Coordinate Precision Inspector in San Diego to perform complete and in-process inspections of experimental and production parts. You will plan layouts, interpret drawings, and verify conformance using precision measuring tools, CMMs, and related equipment.

Responsibilities include inspecting tooling and gear systems, calibrating measurement devices, and presenting data to QA to establish standards, while following engineering change orders and tool design changes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of inspection experience.
• Ability to learn CMM programming and operation.
• Must be able to read blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Plan and interpret inspection procedures from design prints and specs.
• Perform process inspection of fabrication and assembly.
• Present data to QA to establish standards.
• Inspect tooling, gears, and related components.
• Calibrate flow transducers, pressure devices, and strain gauges.
• Lay out diagrams for use on optical comparator.
