Job summary

Shultz Steel in South Gate, CA is seeking a skilled surface conditioning technician to ensure forged parts meet strict quality standards. You will perform final surface inspection, apply in-process identifications, and prepare parts for shipment.

The role requires basic math, ability to read simple words, and the stamina to stand and lift up to 35 pounds. On-site work with exposure to machinery, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Basic reading ability and simple math; able to follow written or oral instructions.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
• Attention to detail to inspect surfaces and identify defects.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs final surface inspection and conditioning of forged parts before shipment.
• Applies in-process identification to products per instructions.
• Conditions surface of in-process parts.
• Operates hand grinding machine and changes wheels/parts as trained.
• Measures part dimensions to verify grinding accuracy.
• Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from parts.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area.
• Performs other routine duties.
