Job summary

Volt in South Gate, CA is hiring for a Conditioner/Grinder. You will inspect and condition forged parts, identify products in process, and operate a hand grinding machine to detect defects. The role requires precise measurement, wheel changes, and routine safety compliance.

The ideal candidate can read simple words, print and speak clearly, perform basic arithmetic, and follow instructions with attention to detail. Overtime may be required; pay is $19/hr with a benefits package and EOE.

Qualifications

• Ability to read common two- and three-syllable words.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to add/subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide by 10s/100s.
• Ability to use units of weight, volume and distance in operations.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions with common sense.
• Ability to handle problems with a few concrete variables.

Responsibilities

• Performs final surface inspection and conditioning of forged parts prior to shipment.
• Applies in-process identification to products per instructions.
• Conditions surface of in-process parts.
• Operates hand grinding machine and checks for defects or machine issues.
• Changes wheels and parts as trained.
• Measures part dimensions to verify grinding accuracy.
• Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from parts.
• Maintains clean, safe work area and performs routine duties.
