Responsibilities

• Assures specimen accessioning and labeling.
• Maintains specimen integrity and patient ID.
• Prepares surgical specimens for histologic processing per procedures.
• Describes gross features of specimens, noting lesions and sutures.
• Performs grossing of moderate to high complexity specimens under supervision.
• Records measurements and abnormal findings as applicable.
• Dissects specimens and prepares tissues for processing.
• Maintains compliance with CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards.
• Assists with Frozen Sections as needed.
• Collaborates with pathologists, histotechnologists, and staff.
