Job summary

Lockheed Martin Corporation is seeking a grinder operator for second shift in Stratford, CT. The role involves setting up and operating automated and manual grinding machines to perform rough and finish grinding on diverse parts.

You will follow standard drawings, use fixtures, dress wheels, and ensure tight tolerances while maintaining quality data. The position requires familiarity with micrometers, gages, and comparators, plus adherence to EH&S procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read decimals and fractions from drawings.
• Experience with grinding methods and materials.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate grinding machines to perform rough and finish grinding on I.D., O.D., radii, tapers, grooves, recesses, threads, faces and shoulders.
• Use fixtures, centers, arbors, and faceplates to make routine setups.
• Dress and shape wheel; adjust feed and speed for stock removal and finish.
• Secure and align workpieces with blocks, clamps, and shims.
• Maintain close tolerances and concentricity per production requirements.
• Perform deburring, polishing, and part marking as needed.
• Check work with measuring instruments and record data.
• Follow EH&S procedures and report issues to supervision.
• Support department objectives and develop skills.
