Job summary

Hanwha Aerospace USA in Newington, CT is hiring a Machine Operator 1 for the 2nd shift. You will set up, observe and maintain centerless grinding and thru-feed machines, and you will measure parts to verify tolerances.

The role requires reading blueprints, selecting tools, and monitoring machine performance. You will perform basic maintenance and ensure quality through inspection with micrometers and gauges.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data.
• High School Degree or G.E.D
• 1+ years of experience

Responsibilities

• Determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed to perform a job.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
• Read blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and plan operational sequences.
• Set-up and start machines, pull handles, use part fixtures, etc. or use other means to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms, etc.
• Manually position, adjust and secure stock material or work pieces against stops, in fixtures, or automatic feeding mechanisms.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the grinding process.
• Observe the machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions; adjust machines as necessary.
• Inspect work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to determine accuracy of machine operation using micrometers, gages, templates or other measuring instruments.
• Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling or cleaning machines, adding coolant to machine reservoirs, etc.
• Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required.
