Job summary

McWane is seeking a skilled grinder to prepare and finish iron castings. You will operate high-speed grinders, inspect surfaces, and ensure dimensions meet blueprints and ISO quality standards. The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds and adhering to safety protocols with PPE.

You’ll read work orders, select tools, and deliver consistent, quality finishes in a fast-paced environment. Experience with ductile iron castings and basic measuring tools is preferred, along with commitment to workplace

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

• Ensures personal safety and the safety of your team members.
• Wears PPE including fall, respiratory, hearing, and other protections as required.
• Reads work orders or oral instructions to determine assignments and materials needed.
• Performs precision smoothing and grinding of iron castings to move particles to meet ISO quality standards.
• Operates high-speed grinders to finish ductile iron castings per design specifications.
• Measures and marks equipment to ensure grinding standards are met.
• Maintains inventory of materials and finished products.
• Maintains cleanliness of the production area and promotes The McWane Way Principles.
