Job summary

Sanmina in Fremont is seeking a welder to read blueprints, interpret engineering drawings, and weld precision frames using MIG and TIG processes. You will maintain tight tolerances, set up welding machines, and ensure quality through checks and documentation.

The role requires a minimum of four years in precision welding, experience with stainless steel and aluminum, and the ability to pass a welding assessment. ITAR facility; US citizen or permanent resident required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of precision welding experience in precision frame manufacturing.
• Ability to maintain tight tolerance of +/-0.03 thousandths.
• Proficient with reading blueprints and interpret documents including safety rules and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings and weld symbols to create equipment that meets specs.
• MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding proficiency for stainless steel, aluminum and steel.
• Set up and maintain welding machines and fixturing to meet geometric requirements.
• Perform quality checks and document defects; rework as needed to spec.

Job Purpose:A Welder is responsible for reading and understanding assembly instructions, ensuring that the necessary material are available, and talking precise measurements to ensure perfect alignment of components. They are expected to operate cutting tools to cut and shape metal and use welders to join metal parts together.Nature of Duties/ResponsibilitiesRead, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and productsMig (GMAW) and Tig (GTAW) Welding Proficient, Experience in Welding Precision Sheet metal as Stainless Steel, aluminum and steelUtilize handheld tools such as a hand held screw gun, drill gun, and grindersOperate calipers, weld gauges, tape measures, and other welding hand toolMaintain weld machines using preventative maintenance methodsContinually evaluate weld machine performance and technology to improve cycle timesMaintain inventory of manufacturing product and welding consumablesCreate specific weldment set-ups and fixturing to meet geometric requirementsPerform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standardsIdentify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identifiedRework and/or repair welded parts and products according to engineering specification changesPerform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety proceduresPrioritize work flow through effective communication with management staffMaintain a clean and safe work areaEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GEDMinimum 4 years of precision welding experience in precision frame manufacturingAbility to maintain tight tolerance of +/-0.03 thousandths.Proficient with reading blueprints and interpret documents including safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals (SOP’s)Must be proficient with the use of measuring tools & validating own work to print specifications.ASME Section 9 certification beneficialAWS certifications beneficial (D1.1, D1.2, D1.3.
