Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. in Abilene, TX is seeking a Finishing Equipment Operator for the 1st shift to run lathes, mills, drills, presses, and CNCs.

You will follow process sheets, install fixtures, and inspect parts to ensure quality and accuracy in a fast-paced, on-site environment. You should be capable of heavy lifting, stand for long periods, and work collaboratively with supervisors to improve production.

Qualifications

• Requires average math skills and ability to read English instructions.
• Must lift and maneuver heavy items and handle shop tasks safely.
• Must follow company policies and timekeeping rules.
• Must stand for the full shift in a non-climate-controlled shop.
• Ability to learn basic machining concepts and use measuring devices.
• Work closely with supervisors to improve production processes.
• Attention to detail to maintain quality standards.
• Demonstrates reliability and consistent performance.
• Detail-oriented with flexibility to shift production demands.

Responsibilities

• Follow production instructions from sheets or blueprints to achieve outcomes.
• Install dies, punches, blades, or fixtures to ensure safe operation.
• Set up and operate machines such as lathes, mills, drills, presses, and CNCs.
• Inspect finished products using calipers, micrometers, gauges for tolerances.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety; use PPE and crane/buddy system as needed.
