Job summary

ADVANCED ENGINEERING AND EDM is seeking an experienced EDM Operator/Machinist to join our precision machining team. You will set up and operate Wire EDM and HP EDM machines for production and prototype runs, analyzing engineering drawings and GD&T to verify parts meet specifications.

You will also write and edit NC programs for EDM control systems, perform in-process inspections with micrometers, CMM, and optical comparators, and maintain equipment logs.

Qualifications

• Completion of EDM operator/machinist training or apprenticeship.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience operating both Wire EDM and HP EDM machines in production or precision manufacturing.
• Ability to write and edit NC programs on EDM control systems (Wire and HP).
• Proficiency reading engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Experience holding tolerances of ±0.0002" or tighter on EDM-machined parts.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Wire EDM and HP EDM machines for production and prototypes.
• Read, interpret, and program using NC/CNC EDM code specific to EDM control systems.
• Select wire types, diameters, and tension settings per material and tolerance requirements.
• Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, CMM, optical comparators, and surface finish gauges.
• Maintain machine electrode wear logs, dielectric fluid levels, and filter change schedules.
• Troubleshoot EDM-specific issues and ensure finished parts meet customer specs.
