Job summary

Gibbs Wire & Steel Company LLC in the United States is seeking a manufacturing associate to check weights, alloys, sizes and quality per work order. You will operate and set up an edging machine, inspect material during processing, and ensure products meet specifications.

The role requires basic math, use of micrometers and calipers, and strong attention to detail. Overtime may be required; opportunities exist for growth in lean manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience – High School degree or equivalent. Prior experience or training in a related field or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Math – Must be able to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions and decimals. Knowledge of the Standard/Imperial measuring system is required and knowledge of the metric system is a plus.
• Understanding and use of basic measuring instruments required; micrometers, digital calipers, tape measure is required.

Responsibilities

• Check weight, alloy, size and quality per work order.
• Operate and set up edging machine.
• Inspect material during processing for quality.
• Identify edging tools and run material per specifications.
• Verify material is free of burrs, scratches, coil set, and within camber specs.
• Document edged material and maintain records.
• Repair minor mechanical problems.
• Group completed coils by work order in designated area.
• Maintain clean and neat work area.
• Perform math/tests for setup calculations.
• Troubleshoot issues.
