Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Group is seeking a Conversion Operator to prepare and modify metal doors and frames per customer and engineering specs. The role involves welding, drilling, cutting, and installing reinforcements and hardware with strong attention to detail.

Ideal candidates read blueprints, operate MIG welders, and can work independently or on a team, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and endure long shifts. Training and safety procedures are emphasized in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience in conversion or metal fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Proficient with tools including MIG welder, grinders, drills and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Cut slots, drill holes, countersink and tap as needed for hardware installation.
• Operate MIG welder to fabricate reinforcements and grind as required.
• Install trim kits, louvers, glazing beads and other accessories.
• Resize doors or frames according to specifications.
• Use templates, gauges and layout tools to ensure precise modifications.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.
