Job summary

Castelion is seeking a Dimensional/Mechanical Inspector to support manufacturing and assembly of precision components for long-range hypersonic strike vehicles at the Torrance facility. The role emphasizes inspecting parts against drawings, GD&T, and quality requirements throughout production.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience inspecting mechanical or structural hardware in an aerospace or defense environment.
• Strong proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience using common dimensional inspection tools.
• Knowledge of mechanical workmanship standards and assembly practices.
• High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection of machined parts, sheet metal, hardware, and mechanical assemblies.
• Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Verify material certifications, traceability, and compliance documentation.
• Perform visual inspection for workmanship, damage, cleanliness, and configuration accuracy.
• Support first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
• Document nonconformances clearly and work with manufacturing and engineering on resolution.
• Maintain accurate inspection and acceptance records in accordance with the quality management system.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection methods and defect reduction.
• Assist with customer and government source inspections as required.
