Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a cement finisher to place and surface prepare concrete per project requirements on active construction sites. This safety‑sensitive role requires attention to detail and adherence to health and safety protocols.

Responsibilities include leveling, smoothing surfaces with bull floats and trowels, applying curing compounds, and installing fixtures in freshly poured concrete while promoting a safe work environment and clear communication on site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Follow safe work practices per safety program.
• Must take initiative and be detail oriented.
• Provide own safety footwear.
• Communicate effectively and professionally.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Preferred: construction layout, blueprint and shop drawing reading.
• OSHA 10 Certification.
• CPR & First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

• Position themselves on concrete forms and move pump hose or concrete bucket for pouring.
• Level top surface of freshly poured concrete to meet thickness/flatness tolerances before curing.
• Apply bull float and finish to bring moisture to surface.
• Apply hardening/sealing compounds to cure surface; waterproof/damp-proof and restore surfaces.
• Install anchor bolts, plates and fixtures in fresh concrete.
• Operate trowel to finish surface when semi-cured; final troweling with steel trowel.
• Promote a safe work environment and communicate hazards on site.
