Job summary

The Roast and Grind operator at WestRock Collins Plant ensures a continuous flow of coffee by operating automated processing equipment for roasting and grinding. This role supports the R&G team and develops expertise in green coffee cleaning, roasting, and grinding techniques, reporting to the Roasting Manager.

Responsibilities include accurate MES/ERP data entry, equipment maintenance, real-time batch quality checks, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment while supporting sensory

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Food & Beverage or related manufacturing experience.
• Experience in monitoring product quality.
• Certified forklift experience.
• Strong mathematical skills using percentages and fractions while working with recipes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of MES systems and ERP systems.
• Basic knowledge of mechanics and thermodynamics.
• Knowledge of inventory control systems.
• Willingness to develop coffee industry qualifications (Q-grader, SCAA Coffee certifications).
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
• Ability to understand department documents and reports.
• Strong teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate production using MES/ERP systems.
• Manage storage and handling of green coffee.
• Set up green loading commands and maintain silo inventory.
• Operate roasting, grinding, and supersack filling equipment to meet specs.
• Conduct real-time quality checks on each batch.
• Monitor equipment and troubleshoot issues.
• Record production data in ERP.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
• Participate in sensory analysis of roasted blends.
