Job summary

Talnt in Worcester, MA is seeking a Tool Room CNC Set Up Technician to set up and operate CNC machining centers, ensuring precision tooling and components are produced to exact specifications. You will verify programs, adjust tooling, and maintain tight tolerances throughout production runs.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in a tool room or precision shop, strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills, and proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school or machining certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years CNC setup experience in a precision tool room or manufacturing environment.
• Experience setting up CNC centers for low-volume, high-precision work.
• Ability to machine parts to tight tolerances (±0.001 inch).
• Strong blueprint reading skills including GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machining centers to manufacture precision tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and production components.
• Download, load, verify, and execute CNC programs with proper offsets and setup adjustments.
• Perform machining operations including boring, milling, drilling, threading, and precision finishing.
• Maintain ±0.001 inch tolerance and high quality standards.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and process documents.
• Select and align cutting tools and workholding devices for each setup.
• Document setup data, inspections, and production records.
