Job summary

JWC Machine and Fab in Mobile, AL is seeking a hands-on machinist to set up and run CNC lathes and mills from prints. You will read GD&T, edit programs at the control, and own part quality from first article through final inspection.

Responsibilities include tooling changes, offsets, in-process checks, and documentation. This role emphasizes safety, craftsmanship, and reliable, repeatable processes in a production environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years CNC lathe/mill in a production or job-shop environment.
• Able to hold ±0.001" or tighter.
• Fluent with engineering drawings and GD&T.
• NIMS CNC Turning or Milling credential is a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC lathes and/or mills from prints.
• Change tools, dial in offsets, verify in-process dimensions.
• Interpret GD&T tolerances and surface finishes on prints.
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMM if applicable.
• Troubleshoot toolpath/program issues and make basic control edits.
• Maintain accurate traveler notes and material traceability.
• Keep a safe, orderly work area and document status.
