Job summary

Activar, Inc. in Bloomington, MN is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines to fabricate metal and non-metal parts. You will read engineering drawings, select cutters, measure output, and ensure parts meet print specifications.

The role requires high school diploma or GED (or 1 year related experience). You must be comfortable with CAD prints, using bar code readers, forklift, and Windows-based systems.

Qualifications

• Equivalent of high school diploma or GED, or 1 year related experience.
• Ability to read and decipher CAD prints.
• Experience operating machining equipment, including CNC machines.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings to determine setup and sequence of operation.
• Select and secure cutters/fixtures required in process.
• Inspect and measure work to ensure prints are met.
• Set controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
• Suggest improvements to production methods and equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and adhere to company policies.
