Job summary

Amsted Rail in Petersburg seeks a skilled machinist to take ownership of parts from print to proof. You will set up and run manual and CNC machines, interpret blueprints and GD&T, and assemble dies, tools, and fixtures to keep rail freight moving safely.

You’ll work in a safety‑driven shop with opportunities for on‑the‑job training, competitive pay with bonus eligibility, and benefits like 401(k) matching and stock awards related to your experience.

Qualifications

• Machinist Apprenticeship or equivalent machining experience.
• Ability to lift 10–50 lbs.
• Able to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, CAD/CAM files and apply GD&T.
• Set up, program, operate, monitor CNC and manual machines.
• Inspect parts with gauges and measuring tools for tolerance.
• Finish and deburr parts; present to customers; modify as needed.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness per Amsted Rail standards.
