Job summary

Pelican Products, Inc. in South Deerfield, MA is seeking a Machinist II for the 3rd shift to program, set up, and operate CNC machinery to produce precision components.

You will drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the machine shop while mentoring less experienced colleagues. The role requires a minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience, ability to read blueprints, and proficiency with calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Commitment to producing high-quality work with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with production and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines using engineering drawings, part specifications, and machining programs.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies to ensure quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
• Edit and optimize CNC programs as needed to improve machining performance and product quality.
• Perform manual machining operations on Bridgeport-style equipment when required.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Perform deburring, finishing, and other secondary machining operations as needed.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
• Mentor and support less experienced machinists and machine operators.
• Maintain accurate production records and support quality documentation.
• Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and operating safely.
• Follow company quality standards, safety procedures, and manufacturing best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
