Job summary

Nightforce Optics in Orofino, ID is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to support daily machine shop operations, including setup and operation of CNC and manual equipment. This role works closely with other machinists to maintain efficiency, meet deadlines, and handle moderately complex machining tasks.

This role requires precision with small parts, familiarity with metrology tools, and the ability to run programs while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to use measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Experience or ability to learn small, precise parts and assemblies.
• Familiarity with inspection and tolerance techniques.
• Visual acuity for small precision parts and ability to set up CNC machines.
• Knowledge of outside processes like anodizing, heat treating, and parts finishing.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC machines without supervision.
• Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Monitor quality of parts and assemblies produced.
• Detect and report defective equipment or operations.
• Follow safety regulations at all times.
• Mentor and assist in training other CNC machinists.
• Contribute to new production techniques to improve output and quality.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is performed on all machines.
• Assist with anodizing, heat treating and finishing processes.
