Job summary

PI (Physik Instrumente), LP is hiring a CNC Machinist in Shrewsbury, MA to produce high-precision components. The role involves setting up and operating CNC mills, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis Haas machines, and ensuring parts meet tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate has CNC/precision machining training, CAM experience (Mastercam preferred), and strong blueprint/GD&T skills. Expect a Monday–Friday schedule with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Apprentice or technical schooling for precision machining (CNC or Manual).
• Experience with CAM software (Mastercam preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related work instructions.
• Knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerancing).
• Experience working with tight tolerances and precise measurements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC mills (HAAS preferred).
• Use G&M codes in CNC programming.
• Adjust G-Code, tooling, and fixtures for efficiency and quality.
• Open, validate, and post programs using CAM software.
• Load, adjust and maintain machining fixtures.
• Perform first-article and final inspections with micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Run parts on Haas CNC mills (3, 4, 5 axis).
• Create, update and improve setup sheets and work instructions.
