Job summary

PI (Physik Instrumente), LP in Shrewsbury, MA is hiring a CNC Machinist for a full-time, Monday–Friday 7am–3:30pm role in our precision machine shop. You will set up and run Haas CNC mills, adjust tooling, load and verify programs, and produce high-precision components in alignment with engineering prints and strict quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, technical machining training, CAM experience (Mastercam preferred), and solid GD&T and blueprint-reading

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Apprentice or technical schooling in precision machining (CNC or Manual).
• Experience with CAM (Mastercam preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related work instructions.
• Understanding of GD&T.
• Experience with tight tolerances and minute measurements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and work for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run CNC mills (HAAS preferred).
• Use knowledge of G&M codes in CNC programming.
• Adjust G-Code, tooling, and fixtures for efficiency and quality.
• Open, validate, and post programs using CAM software.
• Load, adjust and maintain machining fixtures.
• Perform first-article and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gages to verify tolerances.
• Run parts on Haas CNC mills including 3, 4, and 5 axis milling live tooling.
• Create, update, and improve setup sheets, work instructions, and best practices.
• Operate independently from print to part and manage multiple machines while meeting timelines.
