PI (Physik Instrumente), LP in Shrewsbury, MA, seeks a CNC Programmer to set up and operate Haas CNC mills/lathes and develop Mastercam programs. The role requires interpreting drawings and GD&T, performing in-process inspections, and collaborating with engineers on machining strategies.

The successful candidate will bring 3+ years of CNC/Mastercam experience, HAAS proficiency, and strong knowledge of G/M codes, feeds, and tolerances.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years CNC machining and Mastercam programming experience.
• Apprentice or technical schooling for precision machining (CNC or Manual).
• Proven experience with HAAS CNC equipment (VF, ST, series, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, feeds, speeds, and tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
• Experience with tight tolerances and various materials (aluminum, steel, stainless, plastics).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Haas CNC mills and/or lathes to manufacture parts to tight tolerances.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
• Perform in-process inspections and final checks with precision measuring tools.
• Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust for quality and efficiency.
• Create and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam (mill, lathe, multi-axis).
• Simulate toolpaths and validate programs prior to execution.
• Modify existing programs for cycle time and surface finish improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop efficient machining strategies.
• Maintain machines, tools, and workspace in a clean, safe condition.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machine/tooling issues.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE.

We have an immediate opening for a CNC Programmer to work in our advanced manufacturing precision machine shop based in our Shrewsbury, MA location. This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. This position will be responsible for programming, setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering specifications.

• Simulate toolpaths and validate programs prior to machine execution.
• Modify existing programs to improve cycle time and surface finish or to accommodate engineering changes.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop efficient machining strategies.
• Maintain machines, tools, and workspaces in a clean and safe working condition.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues with machines and tooling.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED is required
• Experience: 3+ year of experience in CNC Machining and Mastercam programming
• Apprentice or technical schooling for precision machining (CNC or Manual)
• Proven experience with HAAS CNC equipment (VF, ST, series, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of G-code, M-code, feeds, speeds, and tooling
• Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints and related work instructions
• Understanding of GD&T (geometric dimensioning & tolerancing)
• Experience working with rigorous tight tolerances and minute measurements
• Experience with various materials such as aluminum, steel, stainless, and plastics
• Ability to work self-sufficiently with minimal supervision
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods of time during scheduled shifts.

The pay range for this position is $35 - $50 per hour. Compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
