Job summary

Orchid MPS Holdings, LLC is seeking an Operations Technician, Blasting at our Farmington Hills, Michigan site. You will inspect incoming product, apply protective tape, blast coating areas, unmask and re-tape for coating, and ensure parts meet customer requirements with precision.

This hands-on role emphasizes craftsmanship, attention to detail, safety, and teamwork within a Lean manufacturing environment. No prior experience required; a high school diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes all required training.
• Use pallet jack, carts and tables to safely transport product.
• Maintain work area, tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
• Follow designated safety rules and regulations.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
• Inspect work, using appropriate tools including, but not limited to; calipers, pin gauges, measuring instruments and surface plates, etc. as required.
• Perform daily/weekly/monthly housekeeping per 5S schedule.
• Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material and any unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
• Follow work orders to perform operations on various parts and products Reinforces safety expectations.
• Ensures safety operating practices are demonstrated.
• Reports issues/concerns to Supervisor.
• Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Detect report faulty equipment, defective material and any unusual conditions to the department Supervisor or Lead.
• Utilizes fine motor skills and superior eyesight to inspect incoming product, attach tape to protect areas specified by customer requirements, blasts areas to be coated, and removes tape and re‑tapes product before sending product to the coating operation.
• Following the coating operation, unmasks the product a final time, inspects a final time, and sends product to the Final Inspection area.
