Job summary

Surge is seeking an experienced Bindery Assistant to support production in a fast-paced printing and manufacturing environment. You will operate bindery equipment, maintain workflow, and ensure quality across production and fulfillment.

Responsibilities include setting up machines, troubleshooting, meeting deadlines, and coordinating with personalization, fulfillment, and shipping teams. A high school diploma or GED and 3–5 years in bindery are required; overtime may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of bindery or print production experience required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude (testing may be required).
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Intermediate math skills.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and time management.
• Ability to pass a color vision test.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work orders/job tickets for setup and production instructions.
• Operate and maintain bindery equipment, including cutter, folder, shrink-wrap, and inserter machines.
• Perform machine setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• Follow startup, cleaning, and shutdown procedures.
• Maintain workflow to meet production deadlines.
• Track and report daily production and material usage.
• Communicate equipment or order issues to leadership.
• Support related departments including personalization, fulfillment, and shipping.
• Follow all QC and safety procedures.
