Job summary

SURGE Staffing in Raleigh, NC is seeking an experienced Bindery Assistant to support production in a fast-paced printing and manufacturing setting.

You will operate bindery equipment, perform setup and adjustments, and monitor workflow to ensure quality and on-time fulfillment.

This role requires a high school diploma, 3–5 years of bindery experience, reliable data entry, and the ability to pass a color vision test, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of bindery or print production experience required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; testing may be required.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Intermediate math skills.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and time management.
• Ability to pass a color vision test.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work orders/job tickets for setup and production instructions.
• Operate and maintain bindery equipment, including: Cutter machines (Polar, Seybold); MBO Folder machines; Shrink-wrap equipment; Inserter machines.
• Perform machine setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• Follow startup, cleaning, and shutdown procedures.
• Maintain workflow to meet production deadlines.
• Track and report daily production and material usage.
• Communicate equipment or order issues to leadership.
• Support related departments including personalization, fulfillment, and shipping.
• Follow all quality control (QC) and safety procedures.
