Job summary

CarMax in Roanoke, VA is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist I to perform diagnostic, mechanical and cosmetic repairs on customer and internal vehicles, ensuring safety and quality. You will deliver exceptional customer service throughout the repair process, work in a fast-paced environment, and use CarMax software to manage repair orders while maintaining 5S and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of CarMax New Associate Orientation and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates
• Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately for record-keeping
• Strong multitasking skills to perform duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
• Physical capability to perform work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing or walking for extended periods
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, including active listening and telephone etiquette
• State-required ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2)

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnostics and complete mechanical and cosmetic repairs on all vehicle systems
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and complete state inspections when required
• Manage repair orders, ensuring accuracy in labor, parts, and billing documentation
• Utilize proprietary and universal software systems
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace following CarMax 5S standards and safety protocols
• Provide leadership and functional expertise to support associates and managers across the store
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area
