Job summary

Fisher Associates seeks a Precast Design Engineer to support remote infrastructure and mobility projects nationwide. You will design precast concrete components, lead technical tasks, and ensure safe, cost-effective solutions across teams.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of precast experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and RISA 3D, and a PE license or the ability to obtain one. This role emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and quality delivery.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • 5–10 years precast concrete design experience.
  • Experience with transportation infrastructure and underground structures preferred.
  • PE license preferred or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute precast engineering and design tasks.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver cost-effective precast designs.
  • Perform structural analysis to ensure safety under loads.
  • Select materials for precast production meeting standards.
  • Create drawings, plans and specs; support cost estimation.
  • Mentor junior staff and support QA/QC processes.

What You’ll Do as a Precast Design Engineer
  • Lead and execute precast engineering and design tasks efficiently.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver structurally sound, cost-effective, and visually appealing precast concrete designs.
  • Perform and review structural analysis and calculations to ensure safety under various loads and conditions.
  • Select materials and components for precast concrete production that meet strength, durability, and sustainability standards.
  • Create accurate drawings, plans, and specifications for precast projects aligned with industry design standards.
  • Support cost estimation for materials.
  • Support Project Managers and Designers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Promote, utilize and support QA/QC processes to guarantee quality deliverables.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff.
Requirements
What You Bring, Your Expertise as a Precast Design Engineer
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, Master’s preferred.
  • 5 -10 years minimum Precast concrete design engineering experience.
  • Experience in precast concrete design engineering for transportation infrastructure and underground structures (utility vaults, manholes, drainage structures and pump stations) preferred.
  • Familiarity with ACI 318, ACI 350, ASCE-7, AASHTO.
  • Familiarity with IBC codes a plus.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain it.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD & RISA 3D.
