Job summary

Mattos Hospitality is seeking an Assistant General Manager for a new venture opening in New York City in early 2027. You will join during the pre-opening stage to work with the General Manager and leadership team, building the operation, training the team, and establishing service standards that support a premier guest experience.

The role requires an engaged leader for multi-FOH experiences, able to balance service excellence with day-to-day management, while guiding colleagues with clarity,

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager or restaurant manager.
• Experience supporting a restaurant opening or building operations from early stages.
• Strong understanding of service, hospitality, and restaurant operations.
• Ability to lead, train, and develop hourly teams and emerging managers.
• Excellent floor presence and calm leadership in fast-paced settings.
• Knowledge of scheduling, payroll, labor management, inventory, and restaurant financials.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and follow-through.
• Clear communicator across FOH, culinary, HR, and leadership.
• Hands-on leadership balancing floor and admin duties.
• Collaborative, accountable, and developing hospitality leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations with emphasis on service and hospitality.
• Oversee pre-opening recruitment, training, and systems implementation.
• Maintain floor presence and high hospitality execution.
• Coach and develop FOH team with GM and HR.
• Manage scheduling, payroll, and labor with targets.
• Ensure opening/closing procedures and kitchen-dining communication.
• Monitor guest experience and address feedback.
