Job summary

StoneSprings Hospital Center in Herndon, VA is seeking an RN Pre-Op to evaluate patients before surgery and educate families about the perioperative process. The role requires coordination with surgeons, nurses, and staff to ensure safety and efficiency in the operating room.

You will monitor patient conditions, prepare preoperative medications, and participate in site verification and universal protocols, while delivering patient-centered care and exemplifying evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 90 days of start date
• BLS within 30 days of start date
• PALS within 90 days of start date
• RN licensure required
• RN Diploma required
• Full-time pre-op position
• 10 hour shifts 6:30am–5:00pm

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and perioperative process
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds and site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices
• Be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team
• Apply nursing process and leadership to deliver safe care
• Assess patient condition, monitor, and document changes
• Educate patients and families about medical condition and follow-up measures
