Job summary

StoneSprings Hospital Center in Reston, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse Pre-Op to evaluate patients before surgery and provide education to patients and families throughout the perioperative process. This full-time role features predictable self scheduling and a collaborative surgical team.

You will perform preoperative preparations, participate in site verification, manage IV therapy, administer medications, and uphold evidence-based practices to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 90 days of employment start date.
• BCLS within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS within 90 days of employment start date.
• RN licensed as a Registered Nurse.
• Full-time pre-op position with 10-hour shifts (6:30am–5:00pm).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about peri-operative care.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using evidence-based practices.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process with critical thinking and leadership.
• Assess patient condition and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families about condition and follow-up.
