Job summary

StoneSprings Hospital Center in Virginia is seeking a dedicated RN Pre-Op to evaluate patients pre-surgery, educate families, and prepare patients with IV therapy and medications. You will oversee site verification and respond to emergencies as part of an interdisciplinary team in a culture of safety.

You will work 10-hour day shifts (6:30am–5:00pm) in a full-time pre-op position, with a focus on patient-centered care and adherence to universal protocols.

Qualifications

• ACLS within 90 days of employment start date.
• BLS within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS within 90 days of employment start date.
• (RN) Licensed Registered Nurse.
• Registered Nurse Diploma held.
• Full-time pre-op position.
• 10 hour shifts: 6:30am–5:00pm.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide education to patient and family regarding procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds and site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practice.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers and staff.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to deliver care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes and care.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
