Job summary

StoneSprings Hospital Center in Virginia is seeking an experienced RN Pre-Op to contribute to patient care in a fast-paced operating room. You will evaluate patients pre-operatively, educate families, and ensure safe preparation and site verification for procedures.

The role emphasizes collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and technologists, with on-call duties during select non-business hours. A strong nursing background and ACLS/BCLS/PALS certifications are required.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• RN license and RN credential are required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients, including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification per hospital policy.
• Respond to patient emergencies with high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team including providers and surgical staff.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes during shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment, and follow-up.
