Job summary

Endeavor Health is hiring a Registered Nurse for Pre Procedure Services in Skokie, IL. Part-time, 20 hours per week, with hours 9:00 am–5:30 pm, Monday–Friday; no calls or weekends.

The ideal candidate will have IL nursing licensure, NLN-accredited education (BSN preferred), BLS/CPR certification, and 5 years in peri-anesthesia with experience in pre-admission testing. Proficiency in EPIC is preferred.

Qualifications

• License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
• Education: Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred
• Certification: BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years-experience in peri anesthesia (PAT, Pre-op, PACU/Phase 2) Strong background in Pre-admission testing strongly preferred
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Proficiency in EPIC Application

Responsibilities

• Conducts patient interview via telephone prior to scheduled surgeries to obtain and share procedural information and directions
• Provides patient education via telephone related to upcoming surgery
• Informs patient of pre-anesthetic evaluation process
• Collaborates closely with the Anesthesia provider team
• Ensures required pre-surgical testing is completed prior to patient surgical appointment
• Integrates research findings into nursing practice
• Works cohesively with related nursing areas prior to surgical procedure
• Maintains knowledge of nursing procedures specific to different service lines
• Maintains knowledge and competency reflective of current standards of nursing practice.
• Promotes hospital quality improvement goals.
• Independently provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for a patient population on a specific unit
• Utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care
• Guide and direct assigned unlicensed assistive personnel in delivering interdisciplinary patient care
• Communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care
• Positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience
