Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking a Registered Nurse for Pre-Procedure Services in Skokie, IL. This part-time role offers 24 hours per week with hours Mon-Fri 8:30a-5p, and eligibility for hybrid work after 6 months.

Required IL nursing licensure, BSN preferred, and BLS/CPR. A minimum of 5 years in peri-anesthesia with EPIC proficiency is expected. You will conduct preoperative calls, educate patients, coordinate testing, and collaborate with anesthesia to optimize patient care.

Qualifications

• Licensure in IL required
• NLN-accredited nursing program required, BSN preferred
• BLS/CPR for Healthcare Provider required
• Minimum 5 years peri-anesthesia experience (PAT, Pre-op, PACU/Phase 2)
• Proficiency in EPIC application

Responsibilities

• Conducts preoperative telephone interviews to gather procedural information and give directions
• Provides patient education via telephone about upcoming surgery
• Informs patients about pre-anesthetic evaluation process and testing
• Collaborates with anesthesia team and ensures required pre-surgical testing is completed
• Delivers nursing care using the nursing process with continuity across care teams
• Directs assigned unlicensed personnel and coordinates interdisciplinary patient care
• Keeps knowledge current with standards of nursing practice and contributes to safety and quality initiatives
