Job summary

Saint Thomas Hospital for Specialty Surgery is seeking a Pre Op PACU PSU RN for day shift PRN. The RN will implement Pre-Op assessments, manage PACU care, and ensure patient safety and comfort with physician coordination.

Qualifications include nursing degree, Tennessee license, CPR/ACLS, and strong communication. New grads welcome; willingness to teach and adapt to surgical workflows is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• New grads welcomed.
• Current Tennessee Nursing License.
• Current CPR and ACLS.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good Organization habits.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
• Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation.
• Ability to care for patients from one-year-old to geriatrics.
• Excellent teaching skills.
• Basic knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement ideology.

Responsibilities

• Implements Pre-Op Nursing Assessment and Post Anesthesia Care record.
• Executes nursing care plan and physician orders.
• Ensures patient safety, comfort and privacy at all times.
• Assists physicians in procedure rooms as needed, including conscious sedation.
• Maintains sterile technique and aseptic practices.
