Job summary

St. Joseph's Outpatient Surgery Center in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a full-time Pre-Op/PACU Nurse Manager. This working manager role combines clinical responsibilities with daily departmental leadership in a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center.

The ideal candidate will lead Pre-Op and PACU teams, manage staffing and patient flow, ensure compliance with CMS and Joint Commission standards, and mentor staff while remaining clinically involved in patient care.

Qualifications

• Current Arizona RN license or eligibility for Arizona licensure.
• Minimum five years of relevant Pre-Op, PACU, or perioperative nursing experience.
• Strong Phase I and Phase II recovery experience.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including Charge Nurse, team lead, or management responsibilities.
• Experience coordinating staffing and patient flow.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on nursing care and clinical support as needed.
• Manage daily operations of Pre-Op and PACU.
• Develop and maintain staffing schedules for both departments.
• Coordinate staffing adjustments, call-outs, and daily coverage needs.
• Oversee the overnight Recovery Care Center.
• Promote efficient patient flow, timely recovery, and safe discharge.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing leadership.
• Mentor, coach, and support nursing staff.
• Maintain compliance with applicable CMS, Joint Commission, and Arizona regulatory requirements.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety, and survey readiness.
• Assist with employee orientation, competency evaluations, and performance management.
